Musical Extravaganza The Scarlet Queen of Mercy

is taking East Van by storm!

The Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret invite you all to attend the 1955 musical extravaganza The Scarlet Queen of Mercy. You will be transported onto the set of the eponymous movie, and completely immersed in a marvelous Technicolor world. There are vintage chorus lines, 1950’s film gear, musical direction from heartthrob crooner Jack Garton, with stunning orginal songs from Patrick Kearns and Karly Warkentin. Check out our trailer, for a taste of what's in store.

The real story is behind all the razzle-dazzle: the movie is the big comeback film of troubled auteur Arthur Goudy, who pushes his crew and actors to the brink with his increasingly erratic behaviour.

The audience plays an integral role, and as such should be dressed to the nines in the style of the times. If they look the part they may be moved to the VIP section, or pulled into the action onstage.

The Scarlet Queen of Mercy is brought to you by writer - director Kat Single-Dain and The Dusty Flower Pot Cabaret, who wowed audiences with 2011’s Jesse Award nominated Hard Times Hit Parade. Hard Time's was so popular that the last hold over show sold out in ten minutes, and 100 people were turned away at the door. Don’t be one of those people!

Some glowing praise for The Scarlet Queen of Mercy:

“A joyful theatrical experience.“

David Jones, OUTtv

“Now that’s real community theatre for you.”

Jo Ledingham, Vancouver Courier

"LOVED IT - original, funny, genius, spectacular spectacular."

Lindsey Shepek, Audience Member
